What's in a name anyway?
Louie got his name because of my love for word play and bilingual puns. The word for Wolf in french is Loup (pronounced 'lou'). If we take the y sounds from Wolfy and transform it and jam it on the end we get "Louie". Louie when pronounced sounds roughly the same in English and French (Louis). Voila! This leaves us with a suitably wolfy, if slightly cringe worthy bilingual name. It certainly suits Louie well given his love for Hawaiian shirts and dad jokes.
But why the "Papa"?
I've been a furry since the late 90's but I never really had a fursona. Sure there was a wolf character that I used to draw as a stand-in for myself but he didn't really have a name or a personality. In recent years I became interested in the Pup Play community which then led me back to Furry and the necessity to have a scene name. Hence Papa Louie was born.
While I really enjoy being part of the pup community, I am not really a puppy. I don't have a puppy headspace and I don't know if I ever will. A lot pups go by the name "pup something", and I wanted something that sort of fit in that mold. Papa works well because it fits with my greymuzzle personality. I'm just a big friendly wolf.
